This blog post was inspired by a recent article published in Interior Design Magazine “10 Questions With... Venus Williams” by Annie Block.
"Tennis and design have similar challenges. Things move rapidly and you need to think on your feet, whether working with a new client or facing a new opponent on the court. And there’s a shared sense of camaraderie, whether working with my V Starr Interiors team or a doubles partner." - Venus Williams
You saw it here first, in our November 2015 blog, I recapped meeting the tennis star and Interior Design Extraordinaire as she gave the opening remarks during NEWH's (The Hospitality Industry Network) Power Players: Women Leaders in Hospitality discussion.
The life lessons shared were: “Prepare! We can control only so much... so be ready and remember to breathe!" Her wild card advice was, "keep your eye on the ball!”
Fresh off her ninth Wimbeldon finals this month (at 37, she would have been the oldest to win the storied Grand Slam event), Venus has no plans to slow down. Winning at everything she puts her mind to, Williams blends her passions on and off the court, as the successful CEO of V*STARR interiors. Expanding beyond residential design, she discusses the design of a tennis lounge in the newly renovated Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago.
Going for the Gold, V*STARR interiors upcoming projects include residential building in Harlem and Waterstone Resort & Marina Boca Raton. We look forward to seeing her design work and performance at the U.S. Open in August!
