An Insider's Guide to Inspiration this Summer

luggage-set

After such a busy start to the year, I can’t wait to take a holiday. But if you’re still thinking about where to go, don’t worry! I have some tips for you.

As the strategic material partner to many hospitality brands worldwide, of course ASI knows all the latest and greatest spots! So whether you’re taking the family on a summer getaway or treating yourself to a stay-cation, there are many exciting options!

FOR THE URBAN EXPLORER:

If you’re traveling into my town of NYC, you’ll no doubt have a Broadway show on your radar. And what’s the hottest ticket? Kinky Boots. My sales team and I really enjoyed this fun and uplifting show which also just swept the Tony Awards, including “Best New Musical!”

The production has an extra special draw for architecture and design fans. The world-renowned David Rockwell authored the set design—capturing both the industrial feel of a factory in Northhampton, England, and later a mirrored showroom at Milan International Shoe Fair. Swoon.

Bentley Suite, St. Regis New York

While this next “must see” spot may not be for all budgets, I’d recommend staying at The Bentley Suite at the St. Regis New York on 55th Street and 5th Avenue. Let’s not talk about the room rate. Let’s focus on the drop dead gorgeous interiors designed by Wimberly. Their use of rich-looking materials, including a dark stained Oak from ASI Hardwood Flooring V, give the suite its feeling of understated elegance. You even have access to a chauffeured Bentley to take you around town! This project was celebrated at the Hospitality Design magazine Awards last month as a winner in the Luxury/Upscale Guestrooms and Suites category. No wonder!

 GOING OUT EAST?

Holiday House

Don’t miss the first ever Holiday House in Bridgehampton, NY, presented by our friend and Holiday House founder, Iris Danker, in partnership with Hamptons Cottages & Gardens.  As a material supplier for the winter edition in NYC, ASI is proud to see this concept expand, and has been a long-time supporter in honor of Iris and in memory of my grandmother, Alma Block. Visit the showhouse from June 23-July 21 and see top designers showcase their creativity in support of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®.

IF YOU CAN'T RESIST THE TROPICS:

Curacao

Curaçao is truly one of the world’s most beautiful destinations with intrigue both outdoors and in. Where to stay? The Hilton Curaçao, its recent renovation designed by DSI Hospitality, is a full-service resort with an onsite casino, spa, health club, and Scuba Dive Center! ASI provided a number of high-aesthetic, high-performance materials, including ASI Eco-Porcelain I, custom Wood Screens reflecting the Hilton brand, and Designer Laminates.  What to do? Go for the history: like the oldest Synagogue in the western hemisphere, or the parks, wildlife and golden shores. But it’s the classic, colorful Dutch Architecture around the island that makes it so unique.

If you’re on the East Coast, you can feel like you’re a world away at Bimini Bay Resort with only a 25 minute flight from Florida! On the treasured island of North Bimini, Bahamas, the luxury resort is opening a new casino (July 4th!).

Bimini Bay Final

Designed by SOSH Architects, they selected Embossed Wood – Geometrix™ Collection panels for the entrance. Whatever your pleasure, they offer a shopping village where you can pick up some beachwear or designer jewelry, multiple pools and restaurants, and water sports (ever tried Stand Up Paddleboarding?), and a children's activity center.

No matter where your summer takes you, I hope that you enjoy time spent relaxing!
