"With Etiquette, I searched everywhere for flooring that was sophisticated and intriguing but fanciful at the same time. It had to be magical. When I came across ASI's offerings I instantly fell in love. We used a variety of materials from ASI, but the Pearl Imagio flooring stole the show. It's a truly astounding floor -- essential to the overall ambiance and one of the first things that our guests comment on. ASI is the first place I look now for interesting and unique surfacing."

"We think of the paneling as both soft and hard at the same time. The random carvings are analogous to water passing through and around rocks carving random cuts into the stone. Architectural Systems, Inc. has products that are not found anywhere else. The company is extremely amenable and willing to explore with us ways in which to innovatively use their products."

Harvey Nichols, Dubai

Callison Architecture, Inc.

Featuring Crystal Agglomerate Collection — Pure Crystal White FLSTH006

“Our challenge was to create a sleek, cool interior environment with modern lines and minimalist details while supporting the merchandise story of the Harvey Nichols luxury brand. Callison visited the ASI showroom to source material samples to present to the client. The flooring in the merchandise areas is mostly hard surfaces. ASI helped us source natural and agglomerate flooring sections that support the bright and edgy atmosphere of Harvey Nichols. Nancy and her team assisted us with the final selections for the palette, and ultimately aided in the overall design vision, as their materials were installed in the Harvey Nichols store in Dubai.”

We needed to find materials that were durable enough for a high traffic commercial space but also evoked the elegance and quality of something that would be in a luxury home. Working with ASI was a wonderful experience; Rachel Cooper was tremendously helpful throughout the entire process and the Maxx® Concrete tile still continues to receive compliments."

"Whenever a new project begins, it's time for me to take a field trip to Architectural Systems, Inc. To be able to touch and feel the materials—the tactile experience—is very inspiring. For Apogee we needed materials that conveyed a cozy residential feeling, but that would also perform perfectly in a demanding commercial environment. Visiting the Architectural Systems, Inc. showroom made a huge difference in choosing the materials—we were able to select products that seamlessly bridged the gap between design intent and project demands. Working with Architectural Systems, Inc. is always a harmonious experience."

Anchor Blue, Coral Springs, Florida

Twenty Four Seven, Inc.

Featuring Cubic® Concrete Elements — Custom Distressed Logo

“The inspiration for Anchor Blue came from Downtown Los Angeles, where everything is always being repurposed. We wanted the store to have a loft/warehouse feel, with a design that conveyed authenticity and permanence; essentially creating a look that seemed like it had been there forever. ASI turned that vision into a reality, suggesting ASI Cubic® Concrete panels to create an authentic style exuding the convergence of old and new. They also helped us distress our logo, which consistently draws praise. We opened 14 stores in this prototype in 2006, and all new 2007 stores and remodels will mirror this design. ASI provides great customer service, making you feel like you are a part of the family.”

"The client wanted to create a culture around food and wine. We designed a restaurant and gourmet shop that carries some of the world's finest French/Mediterranean-inspired foods. The presentation is simple, but the food is of the highest quality. To reinforce this, we wanted the environment to be elegant without being intimidating. Instead of using tablecloths, I insisted that the client use real wood veneer on the tables. Since wood veneer has maintenance issues, the client proposed plastic laminate instead. I was quite disappointed when I saw the laminates their cabinet maker provided, and didn't think we could make this work. Architectural Systems, Inc. proved otherwise. I took the client to the ASI booth at the HDBoutique show in Miami, where they were displaying an amazing collection of decorative laminates that looked so real we couldn’t tell they were fake. We knew immediately that we'd found our solution. The tables are in and the restaurant, with its elegant yet casual atmosphere, is getting fabulous reviews!"

"The engineered Caribbean Walnut flooring from Architectural Systems, Inc. selected for the Aquavit Cafe, Lounge and Bar areas lends an exotic, luxurious tone to the minimalist environment and is ideal for these high- traffic areas of the restaurant. We looked at more than 30 wood samples before selecting ASI Wood Flooring for its quality, ease of installation and maintenance. The flooring material fulfilled the design intent we shared with the owner and chef of Aquavit, linking the cuisine of Scandinavia with contemporary Scandinavian design. Additionally, though the flooring is for a commercial application, the space requires the intimacy of a residential interior."

Therapy

Featuring Shimmer™ Vinyl Collection — Cobalt FLAVI702, Cyprium FLAVI706, Malachite FLAVI694, Neon FLAVI714, Tanzanite FLAVI682

"Traveling through Mexico, and supplementing it with some research, I was inspired by the brightly colored tin ornaments, "milagros," created by Oaxacan craftsmen and decided to encrust one of El Centro's walls with them. These colors then became the palette for the environment. Amazingly, leafing through Interior Design magazine, I saw the editorial on the new Shimmer vinyl flooring from ASI and made an appointment at the showroom to specify and order the material that day. The colors matched perfectly, coordinating the milagros, Jarritos bottles (utilized as the bar front), the multihued grosgrain ribbon window treatments and paint colors. The space is a colorful fiesta, bright and happy, a perfect spot to liven up with a margarita and some really great Mexican food."

"For the design of Quality Meats, we chose ASI's reclaimed End Grain Wood Blocks as the signature material, a perfect modern reference to the early 1900's butcher shop cutting boards we used as inspiration for the design. Taken out of its industrial context, the rich texture of the end grain creates a lush backdrop in key transition areas of the restaurant — entranceways, staircases and the private dining rooms. Finding the right products for the project is key to our design philosophy, and ASI provided the material that perfectly suited the aesthetic and the concept."

The crushed coconut material complemented our overall color scheme for the space which is terra-cotta & brown. But most importantly, using the Tropical Veneers as a finished table top made the table cloth unnecessary.”

Mancini Duffy

Featuring Iridia® Vinyl Collection — Copper Gold FLAVI040

Photo: Peter Paige Photography

The appeal of this product is that it is luminous; its iridescent finish loves light, and responds and interacts with it. The fine ribbed texture of the tile allows reflection, the metallic pattern adds depth, and those two qualities combined help hide accumulated soiling. I like that the effect can be subtle or loud, depending on the colorway chosen. I recently applied this material as an accent to the floor and vertically on adjoining walls (oversized tile module in the same colorway) to create a continuous/monolithic treatment, then quarter turned it to exploit and optimize the sheen.
